Let’s take the existing model of providing education which involves lots of challenges:
- Not enough schools, teachers, staff, etc., to teach everyone. Always behind.
- The current education system tries to fit people into one size fits all vs. leveraging each individual as the unique spark God created them as. If each child followed their passion that God put in them, society would be at a perfect balance as God knew how much of each to create for a society.
- A system of haves and have-nots is created due to the amount of money and time required to go to school.
- Children don’t learn to think for themselves but instead get graded on how well they parrot existing knowledge.
- Many years of schooling, but at the end, students often lack practical skills.
- Students spend years learning a profession on top of 10-12 years of basic education.
- The current system has weeded out creativity and forced children to become like adults, reflecting an outdated system of winners and losers, book knowledge vs. application, and the feeling of “I am not good enough.”
- Much of the education students receive is forgotten because it’s never applied or used.
- Students often lack confidence as they may excel in one or two subjects but are told they are not good in others.
- The system is costly to maintain, and students who leave early have no value, while those who complete it often lack confidence and practical skills.
- Children become a jack of all trades but master of none, often forgetting what they learned due to lack of application, resulting in wasted education.
What is the school of the future?
- There are no teachers in the school of the future. All children from all grade levels teach each other, open to both children and adults alike. Curriculums are available to provide a mental map, but each learner's journey is self-directed. Mentors are available for advice on where to start, answering questions, and practical job skills.
- Children follow their passion, pursuing what they want to learn, a passion that God put in them to provide a balanced society. God gave each of us different passions to create a societal balance for what is needed, and the school leverages that individual passion.
- Students determine their own curriculum, focusing on one or two subjects at a time to mastery.
- Mastering their first subject builds confidence, encouraging students to tackle new subjects with the same mastery.
- Since the learning is passion-driven, mastery comes naturally and effortlessly, providing a skill that allows students to earn a living.
- This approach allows students to graduate quickly as masters in their craft, taking pride in their expertise.
- Money flows effortlessly to these students because they master and enjoy their work, having harnessed a passion God instilled in them.
- The school becomes a knowledge-sharing environment where children, students, and adults freely exchange knowledge. Each field has a curriculum guide with videos and tutorials. However, students are responsible for updating and sharing curriculum content with like-minded students locally and globally.
